About This Item
Fiction fans remember this Iowa novelist (actually a lawyer and bootlegger prosecutor) for exciting depictions of pioneer life in books such as "Vandemark's Folly" (1921) and "The Hawkeye" (1923), while steamboating aficionados remember him for the classic "Mississippi Steamboatin'." TNS, 1p, 8¼" X 11", Berkeley Springs, WV, 1924 November 21. Addressed to George H. Lorimer (1867-1937), the influential "Saturday Evening Post" editor. Very good. Mounting traces on verso. Asks Lorimer's help in tracking down a friend's address, concluding with, "I am making good progress with the autobiography." Quick died less than six months later, and this autobiography was never published.
