HMSO for MOD (Navy),, [1992]. 3 vols. in 1, sm. folio, Second Impression thus, with full-page coloured map and other maps in the text; black cloth [together with] separate card folder containing 5 very large folding maps and diagrams, both volumes housed in publisher's pictorial board slip-case, a near fine copy. Much-needed facsimile of a classified document providing a cogent analysis of the U-boat offensive in the Atlantic during WWII. It was written by Hessler (son-in-law to Donitz and wartime commander of U.107) who was given free access to the war diaries and primary sources of the German navy. A standard reference, first published in 1989.
