At the age of 63 Edward Steichen was called upon by the US Navy to head their Navy Photographic Unit in the Pacific, right after the attack on Pearl Harbor. From then until the Japanese surrender in Tokyo Bay, Captain Steichen, USNR, and his expert staff photographed every aspect of Navy action in the Pacific. This book was a selection of the best of these war photographs. Published just after World War II, it sold 6,000,000 copies. This new edition contains the photographs from the original edition plus many more, including a number taken by Edward Steichen himself. Description text copyright 2007 BooksForComfort.
