About This Item
New York: E. P. Dutton, 1930. Dystopian futurism, of a frozen Earth whose inhabitants have drilled underground to survive, their discontent, and a plan to escape; illustrated with fantastic art deco greyscale drawings, nicely printed in the 'Knudsen Process', apparently a very fine-screened half-tone lithograph. Vassos was also an important industrial designer, responsible for a popular turnstile and many TV and radio designs for RCA; he trained spies for the OSS during World War Two. Hardcover, full blue cloth, black titling & decoration. Shows light wear, neat ink name; scarce jacket rubbed and lightly chipped with a long tear to rear panel, crossing the spine & running up the front panel, with associated creasing, another short tear to upper front panel; spine tanned. Text clean; 96 pages of which 22 are b/w plates.. Later Printing. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. Illus. by John Vassos. 7¾" by 10½".
