First Edition of a sermon by this important abolitionist.
Rev. Samuel Hunt was installed as pastor of First Congregational Church, Boston, on December 4, 1850. He resigned in July of 1864. He then joined the American Missionary Association and was instrumental in establishing schools among the freedmen in North Carolina. He became the secretary and then vice president of that association, working with Hon. Henry Wilson and helping helping him to write The Rise and Fall of the Slave Power in America.
An unusual item of North Carolina interest.
Original wrappers. Boston: Printed by C.P. Moody (1855). Some edge wear and chipping, o/w a Very Nice Copy.
