Thick octavo; publisher's brown pictorial cloth embossed in black and gilt; viii,[9]-473,[1](ad)pp.; engraved portrait frontispiece, illustrations throughout, many full-paged (collated complete, though view of Uncle Dick's home in the mountains misbound facing p. 281). Extremities rather scuffed with shallow loss at corners and spine ends, brief soil and spotting to upper cover cloth sizing, textblock shaken in binding with hinges cracked but holding, textblock uniformly toned. A Good to Very Good copy overall.
