Blue, cloth-covered boards, with gold stamped title on spine and black stamped title and illustration on upper board. Wear to edges, spine ends, and corners. Corners also lightly bumped. A bit of soiling and rubbing. Stationer's label on front pastedown and gift inscription on front free endpapers. Some discoloration and foxing to the endpapers. Inside pages clean and unmarked, but have tanned somewhat. Includes an introduction to the American edition by Harris. Illustrated with engravings by A. T. Elwes. A British edition of the classic American story of Uncle Remus - his plantation legends and his songs and sayings. .
Synopsis
The dialect, lore, and flavor of black life in the nineteenth-century South is portrayed as it appeared to Georgia-born Joel Chandler Harris in Uncle Remus’s "Legends of the Old Plantation."
