Eight energetically illustrated stories about the activities of UNCLE WIGGLY, the "nice old rabbit gentleman," and his host of animal friends, in the original pictorial box. Carlson was an immensely multifaceted illustrator, and his other works include the dust jacket design of the first edition of GONE WITH THE WIND, covers and illustrations for LIFE Magazine, and several comic series. The UNCLE WIGGLY collection was Carlson's last major book illustration project.

Includes the stories Uncle Wiggly and the Sleds, Uncle Wiggly and the Red Spots, Uncle Wiggly and the Barber, Uncle Wiggly and the Canoe, Uncle Wiggly and the Snow Plow, Uncle Wiggly Learns to Dance, Uncle Wiggly and the Peppermint, and Uncle Wiggly and the Apple Dumpling. Box 8.5'' x 7.5'', books each 8'' x 7''. Original color pictorial box. Original color pictorial wrappers, saddle-stitched. Each book illustrated in color and black-and-white throughout. Ink inscription to inner lid of box, dated 1962. Some wear and light chipping to box edges, mild sunning to two sides; some wear lines around corners. Occasional light foxing to leaves and rear wrappers. A bright, sharp collection.
