About This Item
Tokyo: The Shiunso Press, 1946. An account of the diplomatic efforts of Tetsuma Hashimoto (1890-1990), a political commentator and head of the ‘rightist' Shiunso organization, to secure goodwill between the United States and Japan leading up to Pearl Harbor. Hashimoto's five "lectures" provide insight into the "China Incident", his visits to the U.S. between 1940-41 as ‘Mr. Y', his arrest by the Japanese government on suspicion of undermining Japanese foreign policy, and his post-prison peace efforts. An uncommon title.
