New York: American Steam Boiler Insurance Co.of New York, 1885 Dark green cloth with gilt and black cover illustration and decoration depicting railroad steam engine and pressure gauge; gilt spine. Illustrated with numerous engravings and diagrams, some with added color. Appendix pp. 167-220 includes "Weights and Measures" and "Tables." Three pages in rear dedicated to information and sales regarding The American Steam Boiler Insurance Company. This is followed by numerous illustrated advertisments for steam-related apparatus and supplies. Light-to-moderate rubbing to cover extremities. Some small, moderate irregular stains to cover cloth, most obvious a 1/2" x 1" darkened patch at lower front cover corner. A 3" break in rear paper hinge has been carefully glue-repaired for stability. Light smudges to margins of a few pages at front portion of text, but interior otherwise mostly clean. Binding tight.
