(DARLEY) TROWBRIDGE, J.T. THE VAGABONDS. Boston: Lee and Shepard, 1883. Small 4to. Publisher's cloth. (29) pages. This book is illustrated by F.O.C. Darley. The author, John Townsend Trowbri (1827-1916), was born in New York and is best known for his forty novels for boys. This popular poem, about the plight of the homeless, has an unfortunat current theme. It was first published in 1863 and reprinted many times. The author's signature, dated 1902, is tipped to the front endpaper. A fine, bri copy.
