About This Item
Arizona. Out since a few months in Scandinavia is Vajas' album "Sacred Stone". Vajas is none other than the new project between the traditional Saami Yoik singer Ánde Somby, violinist Kristin Mellem and Nils Johansen, the latter is better known as one half of the Norwegian duo Bel Canto, originally a trio fronted by Anneli Drecker with the two musicians, Geir Jenssen (later Biosphere) and Nils Johansen. This 11-track album recorded with the traditional musicians Ande Somby and Kristin Mellem is clearly targeted at the world music scene, especially due to the use of Yoik singing but you do discover Johansen trademark synth input for example on the title track Sacred stone. Some tracks do escape the world music tag, for example the dark Burned shamans brings you in a much more intimate atmosphere. But overall, this is purely targeted at a different market than Bel Canto. , English0, Year, Illust. B/W, Illust. Color, ISBN , Code 6233. CD-Disc, In Pristine Condition, Pages , Size
