New York: The Valentine Company, 1916. First Edition. Leather bound. Good. Octavo. xxiv, 256 pages, [2]. Color frontispiece. Illustrated. Custom moroccan leather binding with color, embossed armorial illustrated decoration on the front cover. Gilt title and gilt stamped author's name on the spine. Top edge gilt. Blueish marbled end papers. Leather is rubbed on the board edges, corners, joints, head and base of the spine, and on the raised spine bands. Small chip to the leather bottom spine. Interior contents in very good condition. Copy includes ephemera laid inside. First piece is a laid in signed letter, addressed to Mr. W. D. Tracy, on the editor's New York letterhead dated July 14, 1916. Second piece is a removed book map, 8" x 7", of "Plan of Aldermen's Chamber 1862" (with small closed tear and a fold). Also included is a single removed sheet from a book of "City Hall Government in 1862". A color illustrated Christmas card "when New York had just begun to observe the Christmas customs we cherish today" is also included.
