The first edition of this work, a scarce volume. Written before Pickthall converted to Islam, after one of his trips to the Middle East. Concerning identity, culture, and religion. Marmaduke Pickthall was an English Islamic scholar known for his famous and resourceful translation of the Qur'an (The Meaning of the Glorious Koran). With armorial bookplate of Michael Hughes to front pastedown. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only, light bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Light minor spotting to fore edge, not affecting leaves that remain bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
