New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1943. First Edition. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Red cloth stamped with black lettering in original dustjacket. Jacket lacking several peices from backstrip and is edgeworn, but complete. A presentation dus tjacket, so printed across front panel and carrying the following script at lower extremity: "Into the Valley" is the second book to be judged imperative by the Council on Books in Wartime --formed by the book publishers of America to sponsor books which make 'important contributions to the war.' (The only other book to receive the Imperative label as W.L. White's "They Were Expendable.")" Presentation copy book plate on front endpaper, with the compliments of Time Magazine [for whom Hersey worked]. William Worsley's copy. A stirring account of the Marine's battle for Guadalcanal in 1942. A very good copy in poor dustjacket.. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good/Poor. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
