Oslo: Johan Grundt Tanum, 1948. First Edition (NAP). . Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good+. Photographs. Norwegian language. Small quarto in cream boards backed with red cloth. The boards carry a leaf pattern in slate-blue and gray; the spine titles are stamped in gilt. Corresponding 1948 dates to the title and copyright pages; no additional printings (this date also appears on the dust wrapper). Volume I of a three-volume set, which incorporated the art and poetry of Scandinavia (Norway, Denmark and Sweden). Contents include architectural history, painting, sculpture, theater, poetry and music. Bookplate of Norwegian-American collector Herman Gimmestad to the front pastedown, otherwise unmarked. The cloth shows only a hint of edgewear. The dust wrapper has light edgewear with three short closed tears (1/4" or less); no chips; not price-clipped. A clean, tight copy with the jacket now in mylar. A folded illustrated map of the Norsk Folkemuseum by C. Doy is laid in. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall
