An undated UK reprint edition of Rafael Sabatini's 1934 historical novel which is centered around his Marc-Antoine Villiers de Melville character. The story is set amidst intrigue in Venice during the Napoleonic Wars. The Italian-born Sabatini lived most of his adult life in Britain. He was fluent in numerous languages, but chose to write in English because (per Wikipedia), "all the best stories are written in English." --- In full orange cloth-covered boards with cover & spine titling in black. Volume lacks a dust jacket. --- A well-preserved copy, though with slightly sunned spine, mild age-toning to leaves, and discreet Nassau (Bahamas) bookseller label to rear paste-down.; 12mo - 7 to 7-1/2 in. tall; 320, 48 (ads) pages .
