About This Item

London : Adam & Charles Black , 1906. Cloth. Very Good. 9" by 6.5". Mortimer Menpes. A richly illustrated guide to Venice by Dorothy and Mortimer Menpes. A reprint copy of this work. Mortimer Menpes was a painter, author, printmaker and illustrator and this volume is a collection of his works of Venice which have been compiled and commented on by his daughter Dorothy Menpes. The volume explores the architecture, the influence of the Renaissance, shops, streets and courtyards and gondolas. Pages from 162-171 are loose. With one hundred colour plates. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some fading to the spine and bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Pages from 162-171 are loose and half title page is loose. Internally, some pages are loose from the binding but the rest is firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Very Good
