Important and abundantly illustrated study of the life and work of Austrian-born artist and typographer Victor Hammer (1882-1968), whose works include the Kolbsheim Chapel in Alsace, France; numerous portraits; and designs for private press imprints over four decades. Hammer's portrait of his friend Thomas Merton (destroyed by fire) is reproduced. These two volumes are limited editions designed by Martino Mardersteig and printed at the Stamperia Valdonega.
