Following an introduction, 60 Victorian paintings are presented with descriptive and critical commentary on the facing page. Book Condition : Very Good; no text marks; light toning around cover edges. Dust Jacket Condition : Good-; considerable creasing and small tears along edges; some soiling to back. This is an excellent survey of how Victorian artists, including the Pre-Raphaelites, portrayed, documented, and commented on Victorian life. Whether it was portraying scenes of daily life, the effect of industrialization, social mores, class life, and people on the fringes of society, Victorian artists left a remarkable body of work providing insight into their time period. .
