The church of the Virgin Hodegetria was built in 1310 at Mystras to be used as the main church (catholicon) of Vrontochion, by Archimandrite Pachomios, great chancellor of Peloponnese The monument, also known under the name "Boss", has aroused the early interest of researchers for its original architectural style and excellent quality of the interior decoration, as well as for the depiction, in a separate room of the church, of the four chrysobulls issued by the emperors Andronicus II and Michael IX in favor of the Monastery of Hodegetria at Brontochion To name a few of them: Gabriel Millet, Dionysius Zakythenos, Anastasios Orlandos, Manolis Hadjidakis, Charles Delvoye, Horst Hallensleben, Suzy Dufrenne and Doula Mourikes.
