London: Faber and Faber Ltd,, 1954. First edition, first impression, selected as the 1954 Summer Choice of the Poetry Book Society, as announced on the wraparound band. The Society was founded the previous year by T. S. Eliot and others. Octavo. Original white cloth, spine lettered in red. With dust jacket, with contemporary wraparound band of the Poetry Book Society. Spots of foxing to edges and endpapers, else clean. A near-fine copy in like dust jacket, browning to spine and folds, except where affecting wraparound band, remains sharp.
