About This Item

London, England: Faber & Faber, 1969. First Edition. First Printing.. Hardcover. Fine/Fine Dust Jacket.. London, England: Faber & Faber, 1969. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. First Edition/First Printing. 345 pages. Book-length account on subject. One of the most important books of the 20th century. The 1969 First Hardcover Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions, of which there are many, particularly the 1970 Softcover Edition. Published in a small and limited first print run by Faber & Faber, simultaneously with the American Edition, as a hardcover original only. There is no ISBN. The First Edition is now rare. Presents, in its true-first format, Rudolf Arnheim's "Visual Thinking". His best book, provocative, insightful, authoritative: Those who can see, can think; those who cannot see, cannot think. "The gold standard for art educators, psychologists, and general readers. Asserts that all thinking is perceptual in nature, and that the ancient dichotomy between seeing and thinking, between perceiving and reasoning, is false and misleading. He shows that even the fundamental processes of vision involve mechanisms typical of reasoning, and he describes problem-solving in the arts in the form of the 'thought-models' of science" (Publisher's blurb). An absolute "must-have" title for Rudolf Arnheim collectors. This title is a late-modern classic. As far as we know, this is the only copy of the First Hardcover Edition/First Printing (British) available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: Precedes and should NOT be confused with the 1970 Softcover Edition and all other subsequent editions. A rare copy thus. One of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century. A fine copy. .
