Curated by Civil War Institute fellows Natalie Sherif, Alexandra Ward, and Andrew Egbert, the exhibition examined perceptions of the American Civil War in the North and the evolution of its political, social, and militaristic visual representations through a wide range of objects ((maps, lithographs, stereo views, and sheet music) from the college's archives. 23 pp. w/12 color illustrations supplement a brief essay by each of the presenters on different aspects of wartime artistic portrayals. Foreword by Peter Carmichael. Also includes a copy of "The War 1861-1865 As Depicted in Prints by Currier and Ives". Text by Richard Harwell.
