Born in New York City, she spent a goo portion of her working life as a nanny while also pursuing her photography. It is believed that she took some 150,000 pictures of people and architecture, largely of Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. During her lifetime, her photographs were unknown and unpublished and many of her negatives never developed and it was not until Chicago collector and editor of this volume John Maloof along with two other collectors, discovered a cache of prints and negatives in 2007.
