New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1960. Very Good/Very Good. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1960. First Edition, stated. Turquoise and navy decorative dust jacket by noted Czech book designer Rudolph Ruzicka. Binding also by him, in aegean-blue cloth with silver and turquoise spine stamping, including ivy motifs; author's initials, with ivy motif, stamped in turquoise on front panel. Standard Knopf blind-debossed borzoi device on rear panel. Textblock top edge stained brick red; deckle-cut fore-edge.

Price-clipped dust jacket unfaded, with light rubbing along edges and spine ends, a tiny tear at back near tail, toning along forlds, and a small puncture over front joint. Very light bump to bottom front corner, with some nudging to spine ends. Binding is tight and pages unmarked.

Front of jacket displays a statement from Alfred A. Knopf boasting of how he wooed Davies to compile the essays, articles, and mini-homilies for the volume. Back of jacket shows a photo of Davies posing with his Count Cagliostro look.
