A noteworthy anthropological study of voodoo rituals in the Caribbean by an American Jesuit priest and missionary in Jamaica who became fascinated by the folklore there and its African origins. Chapter titles include "African Ophiolatry" (ophiolatry being snake worship), "The Serpent Cult at Whydah," Voodoo in Haiti," and "Origin of Obeah.
