16mo in later 19th century vellum over paper-covered boards. xviii, 337 pp. with one half page insert plus 8 pages of ads at front and one at rear; frontispiece plus one plate; foldout map at rear. Rebound for the William George's sons bookshop in Bristol in the late 19th century. VG. Light wear. One inch split to vellum at lower rear joint. Corners bumped. Interior is generally clean with light foxing to the title page, plates and map. The London and New York editions were published near-simultaneously. The London is thought to have preceded the NY due to Irving's presence in London at the time. Ships wrapped in bubble wrap and packed securely in a box.
