She has had a long history in polar research and participated in Arctic and Antarctic expeditions. From Rosove, "This book, a thoroughly researched thirteen-year endeavor by this well-known polar historian, surveys the illustrious life history of the ship that was built for Scott's 1901-04 expedition and then served polar research for many more years.
