Rebacked with original pictorial green cloth laid down at blue spine; an attached label has been removed from front board leaving a section of discoloration; internally, new end papers; folding map slightly ruffled at edges; sledging plate also ruffled at edges. The 'Morning" was a relief ship to Scott's 'Discovery' 1902-04 and includes a first hand account of the discovery of Scott Island and the first landing on Beaufort Island. Rosove 96.A1. points out that this is a scarce title. Oddly, not recorded in Spence. A difficult item to obtain, in any condition. The plate at page 36 has a penned in key identifying the characters in the printed sketch. "Morrisons Scheme." From the left to right G.S. Doorly, 3rd officer, J. Bilsby, carpenter, H. Riley, AB, W. Borton, A. B. J.D. Morrison chief enigineer, E.R.G. Evans 2nd officer.
