Du Bois (1994, 2001); the first such author to win the Pulitzer Prize for biography for two volumes on the same subject. These works were written while working as the Martin Luther King, Jr. Professor of History at Rutgers University. Professor Lewis was awarded the National Humanities Medal by President Obama in 2009.
