About This Item
New York: Farrar, Straus and Cudahy, 1956. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. Near Fine in a Very Good jacket, clipped, foxed at the back panel. Quarter yellow paper with blue paper on the boards, faded at the edges. Square and firmly bound, faint foxing at the edges and endpapers, clean otherwise. Algren's classic work of the down-and-out of New Orleans, specifically the French Quarter. Good enough to serve as the inspiration for the classic Lou Reed song.
