About This Item
Caterpillar X, 1967. First edition, first printing. The poet Clayton Eshleman had a long relationship with reader and collector Richard Levasseur which shows in Eshleman's often elaborate inscriptions to Levasseur and Richard's partner. A lovely association copy. Signed by the poet on the full title page. Tall near fine boards. Dedicated to Halma Cristina Perry. Numbered 222. This Tenth Caterpillar is not to be confused with the journal which was a series of publications by the author issued in 300 numbered copies. With this issue of Caterpillar X : "that particular tree has been stripped, & these books will come (CATERPILLAR MAGAZINE) forth quarterly for three years beginning October 1967". Of course, there will be occasional Caterpillar Books which will be issued for authors Frank Samperi, Paul Blackburn and others. Clayton Eshleman was ever a busy man=
