A leather-bound later edition of Roscoe's popular topographical work exploring South Wales. Covering such picturesque areas as Ross, Plinlimmon, Hafod, Aberystwith, Chepstow, Tenby, Carmarthen, Pont y Pridd, Brecon, Pembroke and Carew Castle, to name a few.Written by Thomas Roscoe, an English writer and translator known for travel works on Italy, Switzerland, the Isle of Wight and Belgium, as well as this work.A later edition of this popular and successful work.Illustrated with fifty engravings by Cox, Harding, Fielding, Creswick and Watson. With an engraved frontispiece and title page. Collated, complete. In a full morocco binding. Externally generally smart; spine is rather rubbed, and the extremities are also a touch bumped. Ownership bookplate to the front pastedown; prior owner's inscription has been scrubbed out to the front endpaper. Internally, binding is generally firm, with the front hinge strained but remaining firm. Pages are occasionally a little spotted. Good
