Very Good. 8vo, 20.5cm, xxxix,367p., frontis & 15 plates, 2 line drawings, index, original dark blue cloth, gilt spine titles, t.e.g., some slight edge wear, a very good sound copy (hmds) ~ Originally published in 1825, this book is the result of four journeys that the English naturalist made to the America's (1812 1824). A large part consists of a collection of observations on the appearance, character and habits of many of the animals found in British Guiana. Included is a substantial review of the writings by Sydney Smith (1771 1845), the noted English divine and essayist.
