Tight, bright, solid copy with unfoxed bright photographic and reproductions of engraved illustrations. Top and bottom of spine ends neatly abraided and corners worn. (Sometimes reprinted for as much as $69.) A tour through many towns & villages of THOMAS HARDY COUNTRY: southern Hampshire, Dorset & east Devonshire, with a brief chapter on North Hampshire & the border of Berkshire. This is a very appealing illustrated guide to the English countryside which was published after World War I, as people returned to the beauties of an England--now, increasingly lost.
