About This Item

Milwaukee, Wisconsin:: Bruce Publishing Company, 1944.. Hardbound . BINDING/CONDITION: light blue-gray cloth with gilt and navy on the spine; this is a wartime issue, with the compliance statement; the paper is browning; Fair condition; no dust jacket.. 8vo (8 inches tall) . Clerical index. Description: Includes a short section of black and white photo plates. From the editor's preface: ''Our Chaplains deserve a thank you for what they are doing; our country deserves a thank you for having the good sense to send Chaplains off with our men; God should be thanked for the Chaplains. Forgive me, if your Chaplain does not appear in these chapters. I offer this work as a tribute to all our Catholic Chaplains. It has been difficult to choose from the hundreds and hundreds of clippings which have been sent me. This compilation has had to be made in a hurry, but I beg that you will read it in the 'thank you' spirit in which it has been assembled, and do not be hurt by my sins of omission. From strictly official sources I have been barred by military censorship. Most of these pages are in truth merely reprints from the Catholic press. But I have not, in all cases, been able to restrain my story telling habit, but you need not suspect the facts which stand out in them. I have filed with my publishers a dated source for every statement of fact.''
