Editor's statement: " A half century later, after a career of scholarship and teaching theology and ethics at Hamline University. Professor Benjamin has written vignettes of his campus during the 1960's and reflected on such topics as Pacifism, the allure of war, universal military service, the military as family, President Truman, Hiroshima and more." The discovery of almost 250 letters written to his parents while he was serving in the Navy Air Corps led him to interpret war related issues and his military service.
