Arguably one of Smith's best works...a wonderful story beautifully illustrated. First edition, second issue. Overall, a handsome copy of this Smith classic. Light shelf/edge wear (tips through), very minor moisture mark at top of text block near head, hint of toning at spine, front hinge starting, else tight and unmarred. Green cloth boards, gilt lettering and decorative elements, color pictorial onlay, tipped-in frontispiece, tipped-in plates on grey printed leaves. Small 4to. 362pp Illus. (color and b/w plates).
