Cambridge: Deighton, Bell and Co, 1865. Second Edition. Hardcover. Poor. Disbound first printing of second edition of this long narrative poems that commemorates the Battle of Waterloo. Front board is missing; rear board of beautifully detailed calf is present. Calf spine with title in gilt is present. Affixed to the first free endpage is letter from William Selwyn that reads, "His Royal Highness Prince Arthur, with the author's dutiful respects." The corner tip of the page is missing. The rest of the pages are fresh and unmarred. If rebound, the book would be in fine condition. Frontispiece portrait and map at rear showing "The British Position" and "The French Position." No other illustrations. 4to. 92 pp. including Notes that attribute source information for references in the poem. Contemporary reprints of this are readily available, but it is a scarce item in its original edition. From the estate of Donald Skinner, military collector extraordinaire.
