Text is clean and unmarked, binding tight. Board cover with print of Lake Ave. Victorian house is clean and the only sign of wear is faded spine. Granted and a rancho to Sebastian Rodriguez in 1823 the Rancho Bolsa del Pajaro was destine to become Watsonville. A small village was laid out in 1852 along the narrow dusty ranch road leading to Monterey and was called, Pajaro. Being on the main road caused the village to grow and it so became Watsonville in 1852. Watsonville's claim to fame is the first recorded mention of the Redwood tree was made by Portola on July 14, 1769 as he pass through the area on his way his discovery of San Francisco Bay having missed the Monterey Bay. Loaded with early B&W photos, decorated end papers, large index. 220 pages.
