Circa 1880 (no date). 416 Broome Street (Publishing dates between 1867-1896 at Broom Street location). Description: (6) Raised Leather edges on spine cover ornamented with embossed gilt gold stamped/embossed title/design on brown, red and tan color leather, partial brown leather and red/taupe/blue marble boards, inner matching marble boards, engraved image/illustration on lead pages with fine rice paper, leaf edge marble finish. Dimensions: 5 1/4" x 7 1/2" x 2" each book. Condition: Very good - ; books are moderately rubbed predominantly on all edge surfaces, hardcover surface is worn more in center areas (see picture #5) and on perimeter of books, boards have slight separation inside cover at gutter missing rice paper in two volumes, (1) half inner marble board page missing (see image 6), spines tight; loose towards beginning of text and tighter within body of books, some spotting throughout text, a few earmarks, date written in pencil on (1) cover page, Caligraphy at Top Opening page; retired from MILITARY LIBRARY COLLECTION-ex. 'Company Library Company A 1st Infantry No. 3 stamped at top of cover page-Literary Association 1st Infantry No. ., one small flea bite corner of page detected, upper corner of (1) volume small tear at gutter and spine cover-hardcover top. Overall Great Sturdy Books with strong hinges and a great history.
