NY: William Sloane Associates. NF. 1949. 1st Printing. Hardcover. Stated first printing quarter bound in green and gray cloth with silve r spine lettering. A near fine copy in a good dust jacket. Tanning to the endpapers and age toning to the pages. Former owner's name and the date are inked on the front fly leaf. Else content is fine. The dust jacket has chips to its upper corners and rubs to the lower corners. C hipping along the head and base of the jacket's spine. There are two 2 " closed tears that form a "v" shape on the front panel's upper left e dge. Both tears have been reinforced on the verso with clear archival tape. The rear panel has a 3" diagonal tear at its upper left corner. The rear panel is dust soiled and has creasing along its upper edge. D espite the jacket wear the color is still sharp & vibrant. Winner of t he 1950 Pulitzer Prize for best novel. .
Synopsis
The Way West is a western novel by A. B. Guthrie, Jr. , published in 1949. The novel won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1950. The book became the basis for a film starring Kirk Douglas, Robert Mitchum, and Richard Widmark.
