About This Item
New York: Harper & Brothers, 1948. Middle-aged 'big-city' (Milwaukee & Madison, Wisconsin) journalist, best known for commissioning houses by Frank Lloyd Wright, leaves the first such house to find mischief in the Wisconsin countryside; the last chapter discusses negotiations with Wright for a second house design - this chapter vexed the architect enough to cause a brief rift between him & the author. Original edition, stated first, date code C-X, scarce in the rather delicate jacket. Green hardcover, gilt titling, as pictured. Book shows light wear but some staining/foxing to the page edges, most pronounced on the endsheets, corners bumped; jacket chipped & rubbed, lightly stained, lower jacket corner clipped but upper corner price of $4.00 remains, pasted paper mend inside. Text clean; [8], 306 pages - though the jacket mentions a frontispiece, we have never seen a copy with it present. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Good. Octavo.
