About This Item

Washington, DC: U.S. Department of Agriculture, 1933 U.S. Department of Agriculture, Washington, DC. 1933. Softcover/Trade Wraps. This is a 1933 publication of the 1931 Revised Edition of the 1915 Edition. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Very Good; light wear to tips; small insect hole on rear wrap. No DJ. Printed paper stock wraps. Wraps are not bent or folded; spine is secure in saddle staples; text is secure in binding. 28 pp 8vo. This is a book on weed control from the days before there was an abundance of chemical methods to kill weeds. The methods in this book are quite appropriate for today's organic farming. The methods in this book are simple; prevent weeds from maturing seed on the farm, prevent the introduction of weed seeds on the farm, and prevent perennial weeds from making top growth. Weeds can be controlled on the farm with harrows, cultivators, or mowing. Manual hoeing can also be utilized. All forms of control help crops grow by reducing competition water and nutrients but it must be done early in the growing season and done throughout the growing season. A clean very presentable copy.
