Benedict, with his signature and the bookplate of the Wilbur Library at the University of Vermont. One of the letters to Mr. Bates is by Benedict, a professor at the time in the University of Vermont at Burlington. A report of the celebration at Westfield, Massachusetts, on the two hundredth anniversary of the incorporation of the town, October 6, 1869, with the historical address of the Hon. William G. Bates and other speeches and poems of the occasion, with an appendix, containing historical documents of local interest. Bates was a prominent lawyer and education activist..
