Good-VG. 14 Cms x 19 Cms. notice for author's 'Systematic Theology'+vi+178; fr.end-gutter cracked but secure, 1874-dated pencil gift inscrip. verso fr.endpaper, red sig.above the notice, otherwise clean, tight & unmarked, no browning or foxing except a few sm. spots top final page of little consequence; bevelled-edge covers with black decoration and gilt title panel centre front + gilt author's name, this title is given as 'Darwinism and its relation to the truths of natural and revealed religion', back cover has blind-stamped border decoration, sp.has black title 'Darwinism'in gilt with black decoration, covers clean, sp.ends rubbed with sl.fraying/chipping beyond text-block level. A quite acceptable copy of this very scarce anti-Darwinist text, concluding that evolution is atheistic, but has a fairly extended review of main pro and con arguments.
