About This Item

Salt Lake City, UT, U.S.A.: Deseret Book Company, 1992. First Edition, First Printing . Hardcover. NF/Fine. First state of 1st printing. VG/VG Shortly after publication, changes were made to at least 5 pages and the book was re-released, still identified as the 1st printing. BYU Special Collections lists the true first as a variant edition. The most substantial changes occur on pages 76, 79, 88, 97, & 102. As an example, one of the changes was to Lee's discussion of reconcilling personal views on politics with contrary views expressed by church leaders. Among other alterations, in this first state he concludes by stating, "But if I cannot reconcile their [General Authorities'] statements on government and politics with my own views, then I will adhere to my own views." This is changed in the second state to read: "Many members will then make the issues a matter of prayer and study. In short, there is a general attitude of deference toward Church leaders' views." . DJ in archival mylar Broadart protector. NO remainder marks, not price clipped, never read. INCLUDES special reading excerpt from upcoming bibliography that sets forth all of the changes between the first and second states of this printing.
