George Alec Effinger (January 10, 1947 April 27, 2002) was an American science fiction author, born in Cleveland, Ohio. Westwood Associates created a video game based on the book and Christopher Erhard designed and produced many of their sci-fi games, including "Circuit's Edge." In the inscription Effinger thanks him: "To Christopher Erhard, who's helping me to see these degenerates--George Alec Effinger." A rare and beautiful association copy of novel, set in a decadent Arab ghetto.

Synopsis
When Gravity Fails is a cyberpunk science fiction novel by George Alec Effinger published in 1986. It was nominated for the Nebula Award for Best Novel in 1987 and the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1988. The title of the novel stems from the lyrics of Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues, a Bob Dylan song: "When your gravity fails and negativity don't pull you through".
