About This Item

London : Michael Joseph, (1960). First edition. The third of the Larkin novels - "A delight and worthily to be ranked with 'The Darling Buds of May', that preposterously gay and warm-blooded novel which had much the same effect as a bottle of champagne" (The Sphere, 30th July 1960). Later published in the USA as "Hark, Hark, the Lark!". Post 8vo (21cm). (158),[ii]pp. Original green cloth, blocked and lettered in gilt; faint tanning to endpapers; edges a little spotted, but otherwise a very good copy in the Broom Lynne dust-jacket, just lightly rubbed and with some mild spotting on the inner surface. Gift inscription dated Xmas 1961. Eads A90a.
